'Fins deny speculation Henne could have played through injury

The Miami Dolphins are standing behind quarterback Chad Henne and the legitimacy of his season-ending separated left shoulder.

The Dolphins released a statement Saturday amid some sports talk radio speculation that Henne could have played through his Week 4 injury. Former NFL quarterback and current analyst Jim Miller told 640-AM that Henne "flat-out packed it in" by not gutting it out for the Dolphins.

That forced a response from the Dolphins.

"The report that Chad Henne should have played with his injury is totally false and the speculation of the nature of that injury is not correct," the team said.

"The medical staff made it clear to Chad that he could not play with his injury and that his only option was surgery."

What's not in doubt is that Henne -- who held on to his starting job during training camp and played well early on -- had a lot on the line in the final year of his contract this season, which could be his last in Miami.
