You could fill notebooks with all that is written about Clemson's Sammy Watkins and Texas A&M's Mike Evans, the consensus two top receivers in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Though he doesn't get as much press as those two, Oregon State's Brandin Cooks is one prospect at the position that is seeing his name rise higher and higher with each mock draft that's released.
He recently remarked that he would be the perfect replacement for DeSean Jackson in Philadelphia, but at this point it's entirely possible that he might not make it that far down in the first round.
He jumped on NFL Network's "Path to the Draft" on Friday to discuss everything from running routes to NFL players he patterns his game on but one of the more interesting nuggets he dropped on the show was about his upcoming visit schedule.
"It's one of those things where it seems like everyone is interested," Cooks said. "I have a trip to New York in April with the Jets. When (offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg) came out to my pro day, I definitely wanted to put on a show while at the same time, just play the game and do what I love to do."
At least two recent NFL.com mock drafts have Cooks winding up with the Jets, and the club hasn't been shy in hiding their interest in Bilenikoff Award winner. It makes plenty of sense that the Jets looking for another weapon on offense, and Cooks would be a nice choice with his ability to stretch the field, run fly-sweeps and return kicks.
In addition to the Jets, Cooks mentioned workouts or upcoming visits with the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. All three could be looking at moving up to grab the wideout if he doesn't slip to them late in the first round. The Panthers in particular could see the receiver as a way to fill their glaring need at the position following the departure of Steve Smith.
He's not considered the most talented receiver in this draft, but it's clear based on the amount of teams interested in him that Cooks will have plenty of frequent flyer miles by the time the draft rolls around in May.
And those are so much more useful than notebooks filled with press clippings.
