NFL Player Benefits

NFL Player Benefits

The NFL's commitment to players' long-term health and well-being extends on and off the field, for every player, through all stages of their lives. In service of that goal, active and former players have a range of collectively bargained benefits and resources available.

Player Perspectives

The NFL marked Mental Health Awareness Month in May by sharing NFL players' stories and perspectives on mental wellness. In this video series, current and former players shared how they prioritize their mental health and emotional wellbeing. For some players, that included sharing their own stories and experiences with mental health concerns.

NFL-NFLPA Joint Agreement Supports Behavioral and Mental Health Care

Under the joint agreement signed in 2019, the NFL and NFLPA formed a Comprehensive Mental Health and Wellness Committee, which develops programs and resources for players, coaches, club personnel and players' family members regarding mental health and wellness. The agreement also requires each team to retain a Behavioral Health Team Clinician focused on supporting players' emotional and mental health and well-being. These Clinicians also create and conduct annual team rehearsals of Mental Health Emergency Action Plans.
