Ohio State junior cornerback Bradley Roby will turn pro after this season, Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer told reporters after his team's practice Wednesday.
Meyer said Roby will be honored during "Senior Day" festivities Saturday when the Buckeyes host Indiana.
Roby (5-foot-11, 192 pounds) said in the spring that this likely would be his final year in college and he went into the season generally regarded as the nation's top cornerback. But he has struggled at times this season, most notably in wins over Wisconsin and Northwestern and his draft stock has taken a hit.
Roby has elite speed and has eight picks and 32 pass breakups in three seasons. At times, he becomes too reliant on his speed and takes unnecessary chances, and he hasn't played too much press coverage because of Ohio State's defensive scheme. Still, his speed and ball skills are huge selling points.
He was suspended for the first game this season after he was involved in an incident outside a Bloomington, Ind., bar in July.
Roby, from the Atlanta area, originally committed to Vanderbilt (as a wide receiver) before signing with the Buckeyes in 2010. Roby, who wasn't considered a top-50 prospect in the state of Georgia as a high school senior, redshirted as a true freshman with the Buckeyes.
