Texas' Mack Brown takes shot at Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel

The on-field rivalry between Texas and Texas A&M is as dead as the dodo, but that didn't stop Longhorns head coach Mack Brown from taking a shot at Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel on Thursday.

Brown told a crowd of 1,300 at the annual Gridiron Kickoff Classic luncheon in Austin that Texas signal-caller David Ash was a "great counselor" at the Manning Passing Academy, Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman tweeted.  Brown seemed to be taking a dig at Manziel's controversialexit from the annual summer camp hosted by Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

The last laugh could be Manziel's. He was recruited by Texas as a defensive back. Texas A&M, which opens the 2013 season ranked sixth in the USA Today Coaches Poll, went 11-2 last season and Manziel became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.

Texas A&M also walloped Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl, 41-13, a pummeling reminiscent of the one the Sooners put on Texas earlier in the year in the Red River Shootout.

Using the transitive property, the Aggies were 70 points better than the Longhorns.
