Steelers release two, trim roster to 86

PITTSBURGH -— The Steelers released two players today, trimming their roster to 86 players four days prior to the start of team's training camp.

First-year wide receiver Gerran Walker and free agent rookie long snapper Jared Retkofsky were both released by the Steelers after signing with the team earlier this year. Retkofsky signed with the Steelers as an undrafted rookie from Texas Christian University. Walker signed with the team as a free agent in February. Walker, who played collegiately at Lehigh, was in training camp with the San Diego Chargers in 2006.

The Steelers can bring 86 players to training camp due to six NFL Europe League roster exemptions. All Steelers players are scheduled to report to the team's training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. by 4 p.m. Monday, July 23.
