South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw, expected to miss two to three weeks with a shoulder sprain suffered Saturday in the Gamecocks' road win over Central Florida, may play Saturday against Kentucky after an impressive short-term recovery.

Things we learned

From Aaron Murray's big-game heroics vs. LSU to Oklahoma's statement win at Notre Dame, here are the things we learned from college football's fifth weekend. **More ...**

"Our trainer had him out two to three weeks," coach Steve Spurrier said. "You'll have to ask our trainers how he made such a miraculous recovery."

The oft-injured Shaw exited in the first half of South Carolina's 28-25 win, and sophomore Dylan Thompson played the balance of the game. After the game, Spurrier said Shaw would likely be out for at least two weeks. And although the senior has made an impressive recovery in just three days, he may not start Saturday's home game against the Wildcats.

"It looks like he is going to be healthy and able to play," said Spurrier. "I don't know who will start yet. We'll wait on that."

Shaw, 20-4 as a starter in his career, returned to practice Monday night.

Shaw isn't considered a top NFL prospect, although NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah described Shaw as a potential late-round draft pick after watching the senior's performance in South Carolina's season-opening win over North Carolina.
