San Francisco QB Alex Smith's return keeps 49ers alive is the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week for games played on December 9-13, the NFL announced on Friday. The GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week is the best moment or play of the week that represents determination and perseverance.

Fighting for his career while trying to keep the 49ers' season alive, QB Alex Smith faced a ton of pressure in his return as starting quarterback. And he handled it with ease. Smith, who lost his starting job last month, passed for 255 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks that kept the 49ers alive for another week in the NFC West race.

Alex Smith was selected from among three moments by voters on NFL.com/gmc. The other two moments were Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman leads another comeback and Jacksonville RB Maurice Jones-Drew and the Jaguars rally to victory.

After the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment Of The Year from among the 17 weekly winners. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/gmc throughout the month of January.

  Freeman leads another comeback 

Trailing for the first three quarters, the Buccaneers once again leaned on Josh Freeman. The young quarterback hooked up with Kellen Winslow for a 41-yard touchdown with 3:56 left in the game as Tampa Bay held on for a 17-16 win at Washington. The Bucs' fifth road victory of the season keeps them in the thick of the playoff race.

 Jaguars rally past 
 Raiders

Unhappy with his squad facing a 10-point halftime deficit to the Raiders, Maurice Jones-Drew riled up his teammates with a locker room speech. Then he went out and did the work himself, too. MJD scored the decisive touchdown with under 2 minutes remaining, and the Jaguars came back for a 38-31 victory to remain a game ahead of the Colts in the AFC South.
