Russell Wilson billboard spat draws N.C. State response

Twitter beef out, billboard beef in? That would seem to be the case, as the signage scuffle between North Carolina State and Wisconsin fans over Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has escalated.

After Badgers fans mocked the circumstances that led to the addition of Wilson to the Wisconsin roster for his senior season with a billboard in Raleigh, N.C., Wolfpack fans issued their response on the same piece of real estate.

Wisconsin is notably misspelled, an apparent retort to the typo with Wilson's first name on the sign that started this whole brouhaha.

The billboard also includes the phrase, "Our State," a shot at the rival North Carolina Tar Heels. (Though, technically, shouldn't that title go to Duke? The Blue Devils won a school-record 10 games and the ACC Coastal division title, and have the best basketball team on Tobacco Road.)

Really, the best way to settle this unlikely spat between N.C. State and UW will be on the scoreboard, during the regular season with a neutral-site game or home-and-home series between the two schools, in the Pinstripe Bowl -- the only bowl game scheduled to pit the ACC and Big Ten against one another on a regular basis -- or through the ACC-Big Ten Challenge in hoops.
