Retired DT Glover rejoins Rams as director of player programs

Retired defensive tackle La'Roi Glover has a new job with the St. Louis Rams -- helping young players make the transition to professional football and learn how to deal with off-the-field matters.

The Rams announced Wednesday that Glover has been named director of player programs.

"La'Roi was the consummate professional during his NFL career," Rams general manager Billy Devaney said in a statement released by the team. "We look forward to him using his knowledge and experiences to develop activities and programs that will be a benefit to the careers of our players."

Glover played 13 NFL seasons and was selected to six consecutive Pro Bowls. He played for the Oakland Raiders, New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys, then spent his final three seasons with the Rams before retiring in 2008.

Glover said he looks forward to working with young players and helping them manage the complexities faced by professional athletes.

"It's good when you have someone who has been there and can offer guidance and equip you with the tools that will help you be successful in areas besides strapping on the helmet on Sundays," Glover said.
