Report: Worker fired for hanging Alabama flag at Kyle Field

With all due respect to some of the great rivalries around the NFL, they really don't hold a candle to some of the ones in college football. Nowhere is that more evident than down South in the SEC.

Case in point? A crane operator working on the renovation of Kyle Field flew an Alabama Crimson Tide flag at the construction site this week, according to FOX Sports. Naturally, the flag was quickly taken down and the operator was let go by the school just as fast, FOX reported.

This isn't even one of the top SEC rivalries in the division, all things considered, but certainly goes to show you how important football is in that part of the country.

"We are unaware of how the Alabama flag was placed on the Kyle Field jobsite, but it was removed once discovered," a school spokesman told FOX.

As if things weren't fun enough this week with SEC Media Days kicking off, this little incident is sure to add a little fire to what already is a highly anticipated Oct. 18 meeting between the Aggies and Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.

Just to be safe, though, Tide fans might want to beef up patrols around Bryant-Denny Stadium in the interim.
