The Green Bay Packers are close to signing first-round draft pick Bryan Bulaga, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Thursday.
Parameters for a deal for the offensive tackle, selected 23rd overall in April's draft, were helped by the Dallas Cowboys' signing of wide receiver Dez Bryant, who was picked one slot after Bulaga. Bryant received a deal worth $11.8 million overall with $8.4 guaranteed.
The Journal Sentinel reported that Packers negotiator Russ Ball and Bulaga's agent have held in-depth talks this week. Bulaga is the team's lone unsigned draft pick, and the Packers are eager to get him into camp on time after 2009 top pick B.J. Raji missed 14 practices at the start of camp last year.
The Packers' first training-camp practice is Saturday afternoon.
