Redskins to give team honor to Taylor posthumously

ASHBURN, Va. -- Sean Taylor will be inducted into the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame this month, following the first anniversary of his death.

Taylor will be honored during a pregame ceremony before the home game against the New York Giants on Nov. 30. He died at age 24 on Nov. 27, 2007, a day after he was shot by an intruder at his home in Miami.

"It's appropriate that Sean joins our Ring of Fame after a stellar career cut short far too soon," owner Dan Snyder said in a statement. "His life touched so many of us in such deep and lasting ways. His presence is all around us, in our organization and among our fans."

A two-time Pro Bowl safety, Taylor played four seasons with the Redskins after Washington selected him with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.

Taylor will become the 43rd name on the Ring of Fame, which honors those who have made distinguished contributions to the Redskins. The ceremony will feature a tribute to Taylor, messages from former teammates and a presentation of a plaque to members of Taylor's family.
