Some guys are great players in real football and not so much for fantasy. Others excel in fantasy, but rarely impact the game on the field. In the past couple of seasons, Albert Haynesworth has been neither. Yet somehow, he still finds himself gainfully employed with an NFL franchise. Albeit with little room for error.
Even at his best, Haynesworth isn't a great IDP. Few interior linemen are. It's the nature of the position. But he has the ability to make his teammates on the outside better by occupying offensive linemen. However, at his worst? Well, we've seen how that goes.
Let's turn our focus to guys who haven't been accused of laying down on the job recently.
First down:Cowboys LB Sean Lee (dislocated wrist) plans to play Sunday despite wearing a cast, but coach Jason Garrett isn't sure how effective he can be. With the Bills coming to town this week, Lee and friends should see a heavy dose of Fred Jackson. Dallas has been victimized by the run this year, so it could be another busy day for Lee.
Top five scoring IDPs (according to NFL.com):
- D'Qwell Jackson
Second down:Browns safety T.J. Ward is dealing with a cast of his own. However, having it on his foot makes him much less likely to see action against the Rams on Sunday. The bad news for Cleveland is that their defensive backfield is a MASH unit. The good news is that St. Louis has leaned more on the run game in recent weeks. D'Qwell Jackson, who is having a Pro Bowl season, could see more time playing in space this week.
Third down:Vikings CB Antoine Winfield (neck) expects to return to action Monday for the first time since Week 4. It couldn't come at a better time for the Vikes, who travel to Lambeau Field to face the Packers on Monday night. With Aaron Rodgers likely throwing the ball all over the lot, Winfield should have plenty of chances to make plays.
Fourth down: It looks good for Redskins safety LaRon Landry (sore Achilles) to play Sunday despite missing Wednesday's practice. Landry is fifth on the team in tackles and should see plenty of action against the Dolphins and their questionable passing game.
