The Oakland Raiders have asked for permission to interview Denver Broncos coordinators Dennis Allen and Mike McCoy for their vacant head-coaching position, league sources said Monday.
The Raiders also have interest in several members of the Green Bay staff and recently added Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers to their list of candidates to fill the opening created when the team fired Hue Jackson last week.
New general manager Reggie McKenzie, who came to Oakland from Green Bay, is expected to consider Packers assistant head coach Winston Moss for the position. Along with Capers and Moss, offensive coordinator Joe Philbin is on the Raiders' list, and many league observers believe secondary coach Darren Perry could end up as the next defensive coordinator in Oakland.
The Raiders have searched beyond Green Bay, as Miami Dolphins interim coach Todd Bowles interviewed with them last Friday. New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis confirmed that offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. also will interview for the position, The Times-Picayune reported.
McCoy, the Broncos' offensive coordinator, has received interest around the league and interviewed with the Dolphins on Monday. The St. Louis Ramshad previously considered Allen, Denver's defensive coordinator, before hiring Jeff Fisher.
"I think it's very complimentary to this organization that they're having that opportunity and to their work," Broncos coach John Fox said, according to The Associated Press. "I think any assistant coach's aspiration is to be a head coach. It speaks for what this organization has accomplished this season. Time will tell."
