Race to No. 1 overall draft pick down to Browns, 49ers

The race to the No. 1 overall pick took a very interesting turn on Christmas Eve -- at least for half a day.

The Browns have long been in the driver's seat for the No. 1 pick this season, but after Cleveland's win over the Chargers on Sunday, the Browns and 49ers each had one win. The Niners later topped the Rams to put the Browns back in pole position for the top pick in the draft.

Cleveland holds a one-game lead over San Francisco for the No. 1 slot with one week to go in the regular season.

They are the only two teams that have a chance to clinch the No. 1 overall pick -- the Jaguars (3-12) are out of the running after defeating the Titans on Sunday.

The 49ers would hold the edge if the two teams currently had identical records since they have a lower strength of schedule percentage than the Browns (.493 to .536). The team with the lower SOS picks first.
