Pats QB Brady held out of practice, likely to rest ailing shoulder

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady didn't practice Wednesday, which shouldn't be considered much of a surprise.

Brady sat out the team's session, the Boston Herald reported, as he rests an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. It could be a similar path as last week, when Brady didn't practice for non-injury-related reasons Wednesday and participated in a limited portion of practice the next two days.

While there were some questions about his effectiveness in the regular-season finale, Brady wasn't slowed against the Buffalo Bills, throwing for 338 yards and three touchdowns as the Patriots secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.

Wide receiver Wes Welker, left guard Logan Mankins, right tackle Sebastian Vollmer and offensive tackle Marcus Cannon also didn't practice, according to the Herald.
