Patriots bring in ex-Jets TE Baker, re-sign OL Hochstein

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots signed tight end Chris Baker, who played seven seasons with the New York Jets.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed Monday.

Baker has 145 career receptions for 1,505 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was selected by the Jets in the third round of the 2002 draft out of Michigan State and played in 98 regular-season games.

Baker will provide the Patriots with depth at tight end behind Benjamin Watson and David Thomas, who are entering the final years of their contracts.

The Patriots on Monday also re-signed offensive lineman Russ Hochstein to undisclosed terms. The versatile eight-year veteran has filled in at guard, center and tackle during his time in New England. He also played fullback and tight end in some short-yardage situations last season.
