Patriots' Belichick makes cut at AT&T National Pro-Am

Far from the losing locker room at Lucas Oil Stadium or the New England Patriots' team facility in Foxborough, Mass., Bill Belichick is getting a much needed respite from any Super Bowl XLVI hangover this weekend.

Belichick has spent the past three days competing in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, and he told CBS Sports after Saturday's round that the tournament has been a nice way to stop fretting over the Patriots' loss to the New York Giants.

"The reaction has been great, the fans have been great," Belichick said. "It's a tough loss. It's a tough couple of days, but Pebble Beach is a great spot to take your mind off some of the troubles we had."

Belichick, who's been paired with Ricky Barnes, has spent the weekend golfing alongside former protégé and current Alabama head football coach Nick Saban. Saban coached on Belichick's Cleveland Browns staff from 1991-94 and also faced Belichick as head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2005-06.

"It's great to be able to spend time with Nick and the pros here and just to be out at Pebble Beach," said Belichick, who made Saturday's cut and will play Sunday. "It's a great weekend."
