Niners awaiting word on TE Walker after jaw injury

San Francisco 49ers tight end Delanie Walker could miss the entire postseason with a jaw injury, coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday.

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill inadvertently kneed Walker's jaw when he tried to jump over Walker in the first quarter of last Saturday's 19-17 49ers win.

Harbaugh said he would not look for a roster replacement until the end of the regular season at the earliest.

"If there's a shot that he's going to be back in the postseason, we'd rather not make a roster move with him," Harbaugh said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "It'd be our hope that if he can be back, he will be back. And leave that option available."

Though he has started just seven games, Walker has been a fixture in the 49ers' two-tight-end sets alongside Vernon Davis. Walker has 19 catches for 198 yards and three touchdowns this season.
