NFL Week 3 fantasy flex rankings: Top 150 RB/WR/TE lineup options

Pondering some tough flex choices for your Week 3 fantasy football lineup? Adam Rank sorts through the running backs, receivers and tight ends to present his top 150 flex options, with some useful nuggets of analysis sprinkled in. The ranking is based on a 0.5 PPR scoring format.

  • (Q) -- Player is listed as questionable on his team's official injury report.
  • (D) -- Player is listed as doubtful on his team's official injury report.
  • (O) -- Player has been ruled out on his team's official injury report.

Takeaways:

  • I really wanted the Giants to move on to Jameis Winston because I was over Russell Wilson. My theory was that Winston would throw YOLO balls to Malik Nabers. But Russ said bet and did it on Sunday, connecting with Nabers 9 times for 167 yards and a pair of scores on 13 targets. I could get into this. Make this an every-week thing. Also, I'm getting a note from my 10-year-old daughter, who says it's "cringe" when I say "bet" and that's duly noted.
  • I'm so glad I have more shares of Nabers than I do of Nico Collins this year. I mean, Collins did have a touchdown catch on Monday night, which absolutely saved you (and me). This Texans offense needs to figure it out, though.
  • Credit to Amon-Ra St. Brown for his career-high three touchdowns against the Bears. He became the first Lions player to post 100-plus receiving yards and three touchdowns in a game since Calvin Johnson did so in 2010.
  • It's worth noting Jonathan Taylor has scored 25 or more fantasy points in four of his last five games dating back to last season. He was the RB1 of Week 2 with 29.5 points.
  • I'm hoping Brock Bowers' quiet start to the season (by his standards) can be explained by the knee injury he suffered in Week 1 and that there's not something more concerning at play. Ten catches for 141 yards is not a bad stat line for a tight end through two games. But you drafted him to be an elite tight end.
  • James Cook rushed for 125-plus yards and a pair of touchdowns for the first time in his career in Week 2. He's scored nine touchdowns in his last six games.
  • I really don't know what's going on with the Jaguars' Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter. I mean, I have my theories. But as I'm sitting here giving grace to Caleb Williams and the Bears offense, Trevor Lawrence deserves the same. The only thing I'd point out is Rome Odunze has put up great fantasy numbers this season even with the offense's struggles.
  • I feel comfortable saying Odunze is the new No. 1 receiver for the Bears. I figured it would happen at some point this season, and we're already there, apparently. I could see a situation where they funnel targets to DJ Moore against the Cowboys this week. But the torch has been passed. We didn't get a huge moment like we did recently with John Cena and Cody Rhodes. But trust me, it has happened.
  • Speaking of the Bears, I love Tory Taylor. He's been a good lad. Had him on my podcast. But I'd much rather have spent the 122nd overall selection of the 2024 NFL Draft on Bucky Irving, who went three picks later and is coming off another great night for the Buccaneers.
  • The rookie running backs have been disappointing. Ashton Jeanty looks like he's losing passing-down work. Omarion Hampton still has great utilization, but the numbers have not been there. And where is Kaleb Johnson? Where?
  • Chuba Hubbard finished as the fantasy RB10 in Week 2. There are some troubling signs, however. The Panthers have rushed on 31.9 percent of the snaps this season, the second-lowest rate in the NFL.
  • There is so much injury news this week, and surprisingly (or maybe not) it's the quarterbacks who had us diving into the waiver wire. That said, there is a notable running back injury, with the Vikings' Aaron Jones Sr. headed to injured reserve because of a hamstring issue. Jordan Mason has led the team in rushes and rushing yards in each of the first two games. Mason has more touches (27 to 16) and while I don't anticipate him taking on all of Jones' workload, I do like him as a lead back for the Vikings, especially when they are expected to start (checks notes) Carson Wentz at quarterback.
  • Javonte Williams is kind of a thing now, right? He's scored 20-plus fantasy points in back-to-back games to open the year and he's the first Cowboys running back with 3-plus rushing touchdowns in the first two games of a season since Marion Barber in 2009.
  • I will not use this space to talk about bad fantasy beats. But I lost a matchup in my NFL Fantasy Live league to colleague Cynthia Frelund because the Texans wouldn't take the easy extra point late in the fourth quarter on Monday night (because it would not have made sense for them to kick an extra point with a 5-point lead) and, well, forgive me, I want to gripe about it. Actually, I'm fine now. But having the Texans lose by a point is a bit of sweet irony I do enjoy.

Takeaways:

  • I want to panic regarding TreVeyon Henderson, but I just can't. But if he doesn't stop with the holding penalties -- he had as many penalties (although one was declined) as rushing attempts (three) against the Dolphins -- he's not going to see the field.
  • Nice touchdown run by Nick Chubb on Monday night. Love to see it. He's obviously not the same guy that he was prior to his 2023 knee injury, but I loved seeing him get into the end zone.
  • Isiah Pacheco has fewer than 30 scrimmage yards in seven consecutive games (including playoffs). So he's due, yeah?
  • Zach Charbonnet ... woof. One fantasy point in Week 2? And for the record, he got some opportunities. He ran the ball 15 times. The problem wasn't the usage. He just didn't make the most of it.
  • I wish I had more answers for Evan Engram, who had just two targets against the Colts. I'm not sure if a calf injury is to blame, but I'm not giving up. The history of tight ends in Sean Payton's offense is too great.
  • Hunter Renfrow had five red zone targets against the Cardinals. He has also had at least six targets in each of his first two games of the season.

Takeaways:

  • Don't look now but Troy Franklin is starting to become a factor in fantasy. And I love it. I thought he was going to feast last year after reuniting with his college teammate Bo Nix, and at some point, I questioned if they even knew each other. It appears to be a better situation in 2025. Franklin led all Broncos receivers in snaps, routes and targets against the Colts.
  • Cedric Tillman leads Browns receivers in routes and end zone targets this season. Just in case you were looking for a Cleveland receiver to start.
  • If Quentin Johnston is going to hold on to the ball, he's going to be very nice this season. It looks like Justin Herbert has a lot of trust in him.
  • Wan'Dale Robinson's stock is up this week after he was targeted 10 times against the Cowboys, but I'm not sure this is sustainable alongside Malik Nabers. I'm not 100 percent ready to invest in Wan'Dale.
  • Elic Ayomanor is looking pretty nice these days, too. His 23.6 percent target share this season is the highest among rookie wide receivers and second to only Tyler Warren among all rookies.
