Landon Collins takes social media poke at Auburn fans

Alabama safety Landon Collins, one of the top defensive back prospects in college football's junior class, gets high marks from NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks on the field.

Off the field, the hard-hitting star of the Crimson Tide secondary is slowly building a rather fiery reputation on Twitter. Collins no doubt got under the skin of rival Auburn fans with this assessment of the Tigers' instant-classic home Iron Bowl win on a 109-yard return off a missed field goal as time expired.

Fluke or not, Auburn's victory snatched national championship contention from Alabama's reach and simultaneously propelled the Tigers' own. The taste left in Collins' mouth clearly is still a bad one. Alabama hosts Auburn this year, and Collins will be one of the most highly-regarded players on either sideline. Not to mention one of the most closely-followed tweeters on either sideline.

He also engaged in a Twitter spat with Oklahoma fans following the Crimson Tide's loss to the Sooners in the 2014 Sugar Bowl. That exchange led to this scoreboard-check from Collins: "Plus OU when the last time y'all played for a BCS or was in the running smh lol respect the SEC," per collegespun.com. Collins tweeted "love and respect" to OU fans thereafter, but his subsequent tweets suggested the Sooner Nation's presence on Twitter was unrelenting.

Collins can expect the same -- and more -- from Tigers fans.
