Luck isn't exactly finding three of the Gronkowski brothers, at least when it comes to avoiding injury.
As the Patriots' Rob Gronkowski recovers from reconstructive knee surgery, two of his lesser-known brothers, Dan and Chris (both have spent time in the NFL), have been looking to get back into the league by hitting the NFL Regional Combine circuit this offseason.
They both had their comeback attempts sidetracked by injuries, though.
Chris suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him for part of his workout at the South Florida combine last month, and NFL Media reporter Albert Breer tweeted that Dan had to withdraw from the NFL Super Regional Combine in Detroit after rupturing a pectoral muscle during the bench press on Saturday.
Dan, among the biggest names at the Detroit combine, made nine catches in 21 career games from 2009-11, and Chris played in 35 games from 2010-12.
Chris was not among the 240 participants at the Detroit combine, but Dan clearly had made a good impression on scouts at the South Florida combine -- the top players from the regional combines are invited to the super regional combine for an additional chance to perform in front of NFL evaluators.
Hopefully the injury bug has steered clear of the two other Gronkwoski brothers -- Glenn plays fullback at Kansas State and the oldest of the brothers, Gordie Jr., is a former minor league baseball player.
