Garrard, Megatron howl for fantasy owners in Week 8

Who was the Fantasy Player of the Week? Vote on the top performers and decide who was the most valuable player!

David Garrard, QB, Jaguars

Garrard was a beast in Week 8, throwing for 260 yards with a combined five touchdowns in a 35-17 win over the Cowboys. His scores came on passes of 10, 42, 15 and 9 yards, two of which went to Mike Sims-Walker. Garrard scored his fifth and final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard run. Overall, Garrard finished with 30.60 fantasy points. Unfortunately, the Jaguars quarterback was active in a mere three percent of NFL.com leagues.

Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions

Talk about making an immediate impact. In his first game back from an injured shoulder, Stafford made like Freddy Krueger and slashed up the Redskins defense for 212 yards and four touchdowns. The talented quarterback hit pay dirt on passes of 13, 2, 7, and 10 yards, three of which went to Calvin Johnson. Stafford, who is still a free agent in close to 65 percent of NFL.com leagues, will be a hot name on the waiver wire for Week 9.

Jamaal Charles, RB, Chiefs

It's rare to have a fantasy player of the week candidate who didn't score a single touchdown, but that's the case with Charles. He was a yardage machine against the Bills, rushing for 177 yards and posting another 61 yards as a receiver. In all, Charles finished with an impressive 23.80 fantasy points on NFL.com. While the Chiefs backfield can be a headache at times, it's performances like this that makes Charles hard to bench.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis, RB, Patriots

In what was an odd Sunday of NFL action (even for Halloween), Green-Ellis scored more fantasy points than any other running back. Despite facing what seemed like a tough matchup on paper, he rushed for 112 yards and scored two touchdowns in a win over the Vikings. Green-Ellis scored on runs of 13 and 2 yards, both in the second half. While he won't post numbers like this on a regular basis, the Law Firm remains a viable option.

Calvin Johnson, WR, Lions

The man nicknamed Megatron was quite a treat for fantasy owners on Halloween, as he howled to a monster stat line against the Redskins. Johnson caught nine passes for 101 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 37-25 win over the Redskins. His scores came on passes of 13, 7 and 10 yards from Stafford, who also put up scary-good totals. Despite facing a tougher matchup against the Jets in Week 9, Johnson is a must-start wideout.
