Former Pro Bowl returner Smith signs one-year tender with Bucs

TAMPA, Fla. -- Kick returner and backup running back Clifton Smith signed a one-year tender to remain with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team announced Tuesday.

Smith entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He made the Pro Bowl as a rookie after becoming the first player in Bucs history to return a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns in the same season.

Smith finished last season on injured reserve after being sidelined by a concussion, but he still was one of three players to rank in the top 11 in kickoff- and punt-return average. He became an exclusive-rights free agent after the season.
