Alabama State running back Isaiah Crowell will forego his final year of college eligibility to declare for the NFL draft, ASU coach Reggie Barlow said Thursday.
"We've talked about it. Honestly, when he came here that was one of the things that we talked about when he arrived that he would be here two years and that would be his goal," said Barlow, a former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver, according to al.com. "Throughout the season, we haven't had much talk about it but we have confirmed that that's what he's gonna do as of right now."
Crowell (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) rushed for 1,126 yards and 15 touchdowns for ASU this season.
Crowell was a five-star recruit who signed with Georgia three years ago, earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 2011. But he lasted just one season with the Bulldogs before being dismissed from the program following a felony firearms charge which was later dropped. He transferred to Alabama State and played with the Hornets for two seasons.
