David Ash to return for Texas Longhorns against Kansas State

There was a positive development on Friday for the beleaguered Texas Longhorns.

Quarterback David Ash, who missed last week's game vs. Ole Miss with a concussion, has been cleared to play and will start on Saturday against Kansas State in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Ash suffered the concussion in a Sept. 7 blowout loss to BYU. He returned to practice this week and Texas could certainly use every bit of offensive firepower it can muster given its defensive struggles. The defense has allowed 88 points in the last two games, and its porous run defense is in for a tough test on Saturday.

Texas WR Mike Davis is still questionable for the game.

Head coach Mack Brown is under fire and facing questions about his job security as the Longhorns (1-2) prepare to host the Wildcats (2-1), who have won their last five games against Texas dating back to 2006.
