Cowboys' Newman added to NFC Pro Bowl team, Gurode pulls out

Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman has been added to NFC Pro Bowl team, while center Andre Gurode has been removed from the roster due to a knee injury.

The Cowboys announced Wednesday that Newman was added Wednesday as a backup in place of Arizona's Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who sprained his left knee in the Cardinals' playoff loss at New Orleans last weekend.

It will be the second Pro Bowl for Newman, who had three interceptions this season and recorded a career-high 21 pass deflections and three forced fumbles.

The New Orleans Saints announced Wednesday center Jonathan Goodwin had been added to the NFC roster, replacing Gurode. According to the team's official blog, Gurode is expected to have arthroscopic knee surgery soon.

Gurode is a three-time Pro Bowler who was named the NFC starter last season. The Cowboys will now have six Pro Bowl participants.
