College Football 24/7 Top 25 Power Rankings: Week 7

CFB-141005-TOS.jpg

Perhaps the wildest weekend in college football history means a big shakeup in the CFB 247 Top 25 Power Rankings.

Florida State moved back up to No. 1, but all the upsets Thursday and Saturday left the old top 10 a jumbled mess. The new top 10 includes three teams from the SEC West -- with two of them being from the state of Mississippi -- in the top four, Baylor as the top-ranked team from the Big 12, Notre Dame lurking at No. 6, and Michigan State back in the national title picture at No. 7.

The SEC has seven teams in the power rankings, while the Pac-12 is second with six. But while the SEC has four in the top eight, the Pac-12 has just one in the top 10, and given what looks to be the incredible balance in the Pac-12, it might be time to start thinking that while the league is a clear-cut No. 2 nationally, it might not be able to place a team in the playoff because of that overall competitiveness.
