Atlanta Falcons cornerback Christopher Owens went out in the first quarter with a head injury against the Denver Broncos and will not return.
Owens' return originally was listed as questionable, but the Falcons later tweeted that Owens would not return.
Another cornerback, Asante Samuel, sustained a neck injury in the opening period. But, after a quick trip to the locker room for X-rays, he was able to return.
Atlanta was already short-handed at cornerback after Brent Grimes went down with a season-ending injury in the opener.
