Chiefs' Haley reiterates Palko will start but Orton could play

Kansas City Chiefs coach Todd Haley reiterated Friday that Tyler Palko will start at quarterback Sunday against the Chicago Bears but that Kyle Orton could also see time after the duo basically shared first-team reps in practice this week.

"We've had to prepare Orton to get ready to play and he may have to, but he may not," Haley told the team's website. "We're really focused on how we want to start this game and we know what we need to do."

Orton, claimed off waivers from the Denver Broncos last week, was inactive for last Sunday night's 13-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in which Palko threw three interceptions and fumbled a snap.

"It's not a perfect world. It's not going to be perfect," Orton said earlier this week. "You just make do the best you can, prepare yourself the best you can. That's something that I've always prided myself on, being the best prepared on the field every week."

Palko has started two games -- both losses-- since Matt Cassel (hand) was put on injured reserve after a Nov. 13 injury. Orton last played in Denver's Oct. 9 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
