Chargers, Browns among clubs meeting with Kizer, Mahomes

Pre-draft visit and workout season is in full swing, and a couple of the 2017 NFL Draft's top QBs are staying busy.

After potentially moving himself into Round 1 with his pro-day performance on Thursday, Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer is working out for the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Kizer has already worked out for the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns, Rapoport reports.

Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes, whose pro day is scheduled for March 31, worked out for the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, has had dinner with the Chicago Bears' decision makers and worked out for the Chargers and Browns, per Rapoport.

Kizer also will reportedly work out for the Bears, and Mahomes worked out for the New Orleans Saintsearlier this week.

Kizer is No. 1 on NFL Network draft expert Mike Mayock's list of the draft's top QBs. Mahomes ranks No. 4 on that list.

Each of the teams mentioned above have a clear need for a QB or have a veteran in place who might soon reach the end of his career, so it's no surprise that these clubs are doing their homework on the draft's best talents at the position.

The big question is when Kizer, Mahomes and other top QBs like North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky and Clemson's Deshaun Watson will come off the board. analyst Bucky Brooks has just two QBs going in Round 1 in his latest mock draft, and not until picks 25 (Texans) and 27 (Chiefs), respectively.

These workouts and visits will help teams determine how highly they value the signal-callers.
