CFB Summer Games, o-linemen: Cam Robinson takes gold

With the world's best athletes set to compete in the Summer Games in Rio, we thought we'd get in on the fun by holding a medal competition at each major position group. College Football 24/7 analysts ranked the top three players at each position, with points assigned to each player accordingly -- three points for each first-place ranking, two for each second-place ranking and one for each third-place ranking. The points were totaled, resulting in final gold-, silver- and bronze-medal finishers. The medal presentation continuing with offensive linemen.

Offensive Lineman Podium

GOLD MEDAL: Cam Robinson, Alabama

SILVER MEDAL: Roderick Johnson, Florida State

BRONZE MEDAL: Dan Feeney, Indiana

Also receiving votes: Zach Banner, USC; Pat Elfein, Ohio State; Avery Gennesy, Texas A&M; Conor McDermott, UCLA; Ethan Pocic, LSU.

Analyst ballots

Daniel Jeremiah: 1) Cam Robinson 2) Conor McDermott 3) Ethan Pocic

Robinson is a massive blocker and he can dominate in the running game. He has enough foot quickness to battle the top edge rushers in the SEC. I studied McDermott last fall, thinking he might declare of the draft. He has elite size and the potential to be a top-tier pass protector. Pocic is a tall center, but he plays with his pads low to the ground. He has a lot of experience, and he's very reliable in both the run and passing game.

Lance Zierlein: 1) Dan Feeney 2) Cam Robinson 3) Conor McDermott

Robinson will get all of the attention since he will be a third-year starter on a loaded, defending national champion, but Feeney is the better player at this point. There is no reason to believe that Feeney won't keep blowing holes open in the Hoosiers' running game.

Bucky Brooks: 1) Cam Robinson 2) Pat Elfein 3) Ethan Pocic

Robinson is the crown jewel of the offensive line class as a road grader with nimble feet and superb body control. Elfein and Pocic are excellent run blockers at the point of attack.

Charles Davis: 1) Roderick Johnson 2) Cam Robinson 3) Dan Feeney

This is a battle in which awarding gold, silver and bronze could easily change order. Johnson gets a slight edge over Robinson at this time, but I can't wait to really delve into film on both. Feeney is someone that the nation might not know about, but is creating some excellent buzz for himself in an Indiana offense that piles up yards and points.

Chase Goodbread: 1) Roderick Johnson 2) Cam Robinson 3) Zach Banner

Johnson has elite skills as a pass protector; recall that two years ago as a freshman he was good enough that FSU moved eventual first-round pick Cameron Erving from left tackle to center during a late-season playoff hunt. Robinson has proven to be an upgrade at left tackle for Alabama over the second-round draft pick he replaced (Cyrus Kouandjio), while Banner is primed for All-America honors as he moves from right tackle to left tackle for the Trojans.

Chad Reuter: 1) Cam Robinson 2) Roderick Johnson 3) Avery Gennesy

Despite his off-season issues, Robinson has the ability to shut down any pass rusher and open massive holes on the edge for his running backs. Johnson's a close second, however, and might be a better pass protector than Robinson. Gennesy's a lesser-known player, but is simply a solid left tackle any quarterback would want keeping his backside clean.
