Brian Kelly: ND great situation, no need for me to chase NFL job

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly isn't inclined to try his hand at being an NFL head coach, at least not at this point in his career.

Asked about his possible interest during a Monday interview on ESPN, the Fighting Irish coach said, among other similar things, "Those are my biggest concerns sometimes. There's a lot of turnover in the NFL. There's a lack of continuity."

Six NFL teams have head-coaching vacancies -- the 49ers, Buccaneers, Titans, Giants, Eagles and Browns -- perhaps illustrating Kelly's point. Coaching in the NFL has its advantages over doing so at the college level, but college coaches aren't without advantages unique to them, either.

Kelly's full response:

While Kelly might enjoy plenty of stability at Notre Dame, it's not necessarily a benefit many of his peers enjoy at other schools. The December turnover season for college coaches was especially lively last month, with top coaching jobs from USC to Georgia coming open.
