Amari Cooper, Kevin White among Biletnikoff semifinalists

Alabama's Amari Cooper and West Virginia's Kevin White are among the 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the nation's best receiver.

White is second nationally and Cooper third in receptions, while Cooper is first and White third in receiving yards.

Also semifinalists are Colorado's Nelson Spruce, who leads the nation in receptions, and Colorado State's Rashard Higgins, who is second in receiving yardage and first in touchdown receptions.

The other six semifinalists are USC's Nelson Agholor, Florida State's Rashad Greene, Kansas State's Tyler Lockett, Washington State's Vince Mayle, Oklahoma's Sterling Shepard and Arizona State's Jaelen Strong.

Higgins is a sophomore; the other nine candidates are upperclassmen.

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah says Cooper is "the best wide receiver in college football," and White also has drawn rave reviews from scouts. One AFC executive told NFL Media analysts that his tape "is fantastic" and that "he has a great work ethic."

The 10 semifinalists make up a strong group, though you also could make a case for Notre Dame's Will Fuller, Western Michigan's Corey Davis and East Carolina's Justin Hardy.

The three finalists will be announced next Monday, and the winner will be named Dec. 11.
