After sitting out morning practice, Cowboys RB Jones returns

Cowboys running back Felix Jones missed Monday's morning practice to rest a surgically-repaired toe that shortened his rookie season.

2008 Statistics:
Rushes: 30

Yards: 266

Touchdowns: 3

Jones returned to the field in the afternoon.

"He's actually running fine," Running backs coach Skip Peete told Dallascowboys.com. "He just came back after one play and said he's stiff. That happens during camp. ... I don't foresee it being a problem. We're in training camp two weeks in and guys are getting sore, stiff and all that stuff."

The speedy Jones was already out with a hamstring injury last season when he injured his left big toe, forcing him onto injured reserve. He had season-ending surgery in November. Jones is being counted on to juice up the offense after making several dazzling plays in six games last year.

Notes: TE Martellus Bennett twisted his knee in the morning practice and was held out in the afternoon. "These are the kind of the bumps that happen in training camp," coach Wade Phillips said. ... CBs Terence Newman (groin) and Mike Jenkins (ankle) missed both practices. ... Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis ran practice without wearing a neck brace for the first time. He's used the collar since having surgery to repair a broken neck suffered when the team's practice facility collapsed in May.
