Filling in for an injured Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts was a force. He gained 114 yards on the ground with a touchdown and his hard running appeared to tire a Broncos defense that wilted in the fourth quarter.
Key Stat
With Kyle Orton under center, the Broncos threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. He left at halftime with an ankle injury, however, and Denver was held to minus-8 passing yards in the second half with Chris Simms playing quarterback. The Redskins had the league's best passing defense coming in, allowing an average of 159.9 yards per game.
