The 49ers sacked Kurt Warner on the final play of the game to thwart the Cardinals' slim hopes of a comeback. The 49ers took the lead on Frank Gore's 3-yard touchdown reception from Shaun Hill in the fourth quarter, and the Cardinals had two opportunities to regain the lead but fell short.

Game ball
Hill was unspectacular but solid, completing 18 of 31 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown to lead the 49ers. Most importantly, Hill didn't throw an interception.

Key stat
The Cardinals had 12 penalties for 82 yards, upsetting coach Ken Whisenhunt, who said in his post-game news conference that guys who commit penalties will not play.
