| QB Kyle Orton was a winner in his debut with the Broncos. |
It was over when ...
WR Brandon Stokley grabbed a deflected pass and raced into the end zone for an improbable 87-yard touchdown reception in the final seconds. This came after the Bengals scored a go-ahead touchdown on RB Cedric Benson's 1-yard plunge with 38 seconds remaining. QB Carson Palmer had one last effort on the final play of the game, but his desperation pass was intercepted.
Game ball
In what looked like a last-minute victory for the Bengals, Stokley not only had enough awareness to catch the deflected ball, but also did not immediately go into the end zone to take valuable seconds off the clock for a possible comeback.
Key stat
Palmer showed a little bit of rust after missing time in the preseason, as he did not throw a touchdown and had two interceptions.
Noteworthy
Benson finished with 76 rushing yards on 21 attempts. ... Broncos RBs Correll Buckhalter and Knowshon Moreno each had eight attempts, but Buckhalter out-gained the rookie, 46 yards to 19. ... WR Brandon Marshall had four receptions for 27 yards.
