The Vikings sacked Texans QB Sage Rosenfels on successive plays in the final two minutes to force a turnover on downs. Minnesota then went into the victory formation to seal a 28-21 win.

The Texans sold out to stop Adrian Peterson by stacking the box, but after a slow start, the Vikings' explosive rusher eventually wore down Houston's defense and finished with 139 yards and a touchdown. His presence also opened up the field for Gus Frerotte to connect on several big plays in the passing game.
Key stat
Minnesota cashed in with touchdowns on two of its three trips to the red zone. The only time the Vikings did not score was when they chose not to by kneeling down to end the game in its final possession. The Texans have now allowed their opponents to score touchdowns on 18 of 22 red-zone opportunities.
