Panthers QB Jake Delhomme took the last snap of the game with two seconds remaining, pump-faked and then threw the ball between two defenders to TE Dante Rosario in the back of the end zone for the win.
Game balls
Besides the game-winner, CB Chris Gamble scored the only other touchdown for the Panthers. In the third quarter, safety Chris Harris stripped Antonio Gates and Gamble picked up the ball and ran it back 31 yards for the score. The rest of the Panthers' points came off the foot of kicker John Kasay, who nailed four field goals.
Key stat
The Panthers outrushed the Chargers 142 yards to 105, and held the ball nearly twice as long in the first half by keeping it on the ground. DeAngelo Williams led Carolina's rushing attack, collecting 86 yards on 18 attempts.
