San Francisco 49ers

"'49ers are going to the Super Bowl!' Man, we get a week vacation in Miami, to kick it? Because we know we're going to win." - Deion Sanders

The 1994 San Francisco 49ers’ offense scored a league-high 31.6 points per game during the regular season – and was even better in the playoffs. After losing the conference championship in 2 straight years to the Cowboys, the 49ers dethroned the 2-time defending Super Bowl champs, 38-28, in the NFC title game. The 49ers averaged just under 44 points per game in the playoffs, which included a 49-26 dismantling of San Diego in Super Bowl XXIX. Coached by George Seifert, the 13-3 Niners were led offensively by league MVP Steve Young, who threw a league high-35 touchdowns while Jerry Rice had an NFL-high 1,499 receiving yards. Running back Ricky Watters was a key component, scoring 11 total TDs and gaining 1,596 yards from scrimmage. The San Francisco defense featured four Pro Bowlers, including Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, who during his only season as a Niner returned three interceptions for TDs.
