Super Bowl XLIII

"I was frozen in my chair, I was so nervous." - Joe Manganiello

Super Bowl XLIII between the Steelers and Cardinals, played in Tampa on February 1, 2009, featured one of the most exciting defensive plays in football history and some wild fourth quarter comebacks. A key play occurred with Arizona trailing, 10-7, but in possession at the Pittsburgh 2 with 18 seconds left in the first half. On first-and-goal, quarterback Kurt Warner was intercepted at the goal line by the Steelers’ James Harrison, who ran the ball back a Super Bowl record 100-yards for a touchdown. Pittsburgh led, 20-7, heading into the fourth, but after Warner threw a touchdown pass midway through the quarter, the Cardinals forced a safety and Warner tossed a 64-yard TD to Larry Fitzgerald to take a 23-20 lead. But Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger engineered an eight-play, 78-yard touchdown drive, highlighted by a dynamic Santonio Holmes catch in the back corner of the end zone to make it 27-23, Pittsburgh. The Steelers had won their second title in four years.
