Tony “The Goose” Siragusa played defensive tackle in the NFL for 12 seasons. Born in 1967 in New Jersey, he was a high school state wrestling champion who played college football at Pittsburgh and was undrafted in the NFL. The 6-foot-3, 340-pounder signed with the Colts, for whom he played from 1990 to 1996. From 1997 to 2001 he played for the Ravens, winning a Super Bowl with them in 2000. Throughout his career, fans yelled “Goose!” whenever he made a tackle. Siragusa, who took his entire $1000 signing bonus ($674 after taxes) and spent it with friends at a bar, once owned a pet alligator, tarantula, and boa constrictor. After retiring in 2001 Siragusa’s charisma helped him in various endeavors, including as a Fox sideline reporter, and as an actor – including in several episodes of the Sopranos as Tony Soprano’s driver and bodyguard. Siragusa was also as a reality TV host for the show, “Man Caves.”
