Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning, the NFL’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns, was one of the best – and most improvisational– quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL. In 17 seasons with the Colts and Broncos, Manning made 14 Pro Bowls, won five MVPs and two Super Bowl titles. In his best season, at age 37 in 2013, he threw for 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns – both all-time records. A 6-foot-5 New Orleans native who was selected first overall in the 1998 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, Manning is the son of longtime NFL quarterback Archie Manning and the brother of Giants QB Eli Manning. He has been celebrated for his wit, his meticulous preparation and attention to detail, and his ability to read defenses. During games, his expressive hand and foot movements and yelling fits at the line of scrimmage are legendary. Off the field, Manning developed a reputation as a dorky and clumsy sort of anti-jock – someone unable to use a can opener or washing machine. But, aided by a self-deprecating humor and down-to-earth charm, Manning became ever-present on TV as a spokesperson for Papa John’s Pizza, MasterCard, and Nationwide Insurance, among other brands.
