Huddle Blog Post - 6/7

6 Million and Counting

The yearlong Huddle for 100 initiative is off to a strong start, thanks to the support of fans, players, coaches, teams, and partners. The collective efforts of over 50 thousand volunteers have already helped us surpass 6 million minutes!

Since the launch of Huddle Against Hunger in Nashville during the 2019 NFL Draft, many teams have also joined the fight against hunger, with the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, and Minnesota Vikings all supporting hunger-relief efforts. Fans across the nation have also come together and donated over 155,000 food items to their local food pantries through a Nashville community food drive and our partnership with DoSomething.org. Huddle Against Hunger will be the league focus through June 14th, when the focus will shift to youth and health and wellness for Huddle Up to Play it Forward. Check out DoSomething.org/Huddlefor100 on June 15th to learn how to get involved.

Volunteer efforts across the nation go well beyond tackling hunger. Teams have rallied their staff and fans to get involved with a variety of causes. The Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Los Angeles Rams have built new playgrounds in their communities. The Carolina Panthers partnered with Habitat for Humanity, an organization other teams plan to support over the coming months as well. Teams have rallied around health, wellness, and disease awareness and prevention: the Buffalo Bills organized a blood drive, the Miami Dolphins hosted a walk to fight cancer, the New England Patriots prepared birthday packages for hospitalized children, the New York Jets organized a walk to raise awareness around lupus, and the Philadelphia Eagles hosted a walk for autism. Teams have also organized Huddles to support military and veterans, first responders, character and social justice programs, tree-planting and community garden efforts, and field days to get youth engaged and active. Read more about what your favorite team is doing and consider how you might get involved locally.

Fans have created their own Huddles around the nation as well. They have donated their time to Huddle for 100 through volunteer efforts, including beach and park clean-ups, mentoring youth, participating in blood drives, supporting animal shelters, and many other activities. The level of support we have seen to date is so inspiring and we intend to keep the momentum going strong.

We also want to extend a big congratulations and thank-you to the Los Angeles Rams, the first team to win our monthly Huddle for 100 club competition! The Rams partnered with United Way to organize HomeWalk, a walk to end homelessness in Los Angeles, which had over 10,000 participants. Representatives from the Rams also volunteered their time at several Play 60 field days and supported a playground build. In total, the Rams rallied 10,451 volunteers to contribute 1,060,700 minutes to our overall goal during the month of May. Please join us in congratulating the Rams on this accomplishment and get involved to help your team reach the top of the leaderboard next month!
