Patriots Season Preview

A prime-time Super Bowl defense

New England's road to a repeat will begin on Sunday Night Football when they host the Steelers in Week 1. Defense of its Super Bowl crown will play out for much of the year in prime time as the Patriots host the Giants in a Week 6 Thursday night tilt that comes just before a Week 7 Monday night game at the Jets. The Pats will be at Baltimore for a Sunday night showdown on Week 9 and are scheduled for Sunday night once more in Week 13 at Houston. Only five games on New England's slate will feature teams from the previous season's playoffs, though that will include the Chiefs, who visit in an interesting Week 14 contest.

In week 16, three of five possible matchups currently listed as TBD will be scheduled for Saturday on NFL Network: Houston at Tampa Bay, Buffalo at New England, Detroit at Denver, Oakland at LA Chargers, and San Francisco at LA Rams. Start times and Saturday games for week 16 will be announced no later than following week 8, with the non-Saturday games to be played on Sunday.
