Lions meet longtime division rival on Thanksgiving

Detroit finished dead last in its division last season and it will be mid-October before the Lions match up with a division rival. The Lions will open the 2019 season on the road against the Arizona Cardinals before squaring off against the Chargers, Eagles and Chiefs ahead of the Week 5 bye. That all comes before Detroit's first NFC North tilt, which takes place in Week 6 on Monday night at Green Bay. As for the Lions' annual turkey tussle, they'll host the Bears in the first game of the Thanksgiving slate.

In week 16, three of five possible matchups currently listed as TBD will be scheduled for Saturday on NFL Network: Houston at Tampa Bay, Buffalo at New England, Detroit at Denver, Oakland at LA Chargers, and San Francisco at LA Rams. Start times and Saturday games for week 16 will be announced no later than following week 8, with the non-Saturday games to be played on Sunday.
