| Quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan was inconsistent for the 49ers. |
What we learned ...
Morgan makes big plays: 49ers rookie WR Josh Morgan continued his great start to the preseason with a huge game. After catching four passes for 68 yards in Week 1, Morgan exploded against Green Bay for five catches for 114 yards and a touchdown. He may be playing his way along side Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson as the third receiver soon enough.
Who will be the 49ers' QB? J.T. O'Sullivan started the game, and played the entire first half, but did not look good, despite decent numbers (8-of-17 for 154 yards, one touchdown and one interception). He missed a number of open receivers and made some questionable decisions, including the interception, which was thrown almost directly to Packers CB Charles Woodson. Former No. 1 overall pick Alex Smith didn't fare any better, going just 5-of-12 for 62 yards.
Packers' offensive line needs a lot of work: Green Bay is still trying to find a cohesive starting unit, and it showed against San Francisco. The line did not give QB Aaron Rodgers much time to throw, and gave up four first-half sacks of the new starting QB.
Rodgers on the run: Aaron Rodgers was inconsistent throughout the game, and running away from the rush didn't help him at all. Even when he wasn't trying to avoid defenders, or getting sacked, Rodgers couldn't find a rhythm, going 9-of-16 for just 58 yards in the first half.
