What we learned ...
Oh Canada: In the first of eight games the Bills will play in Toronto through 2012 (five regular season, three preseason), they thrilled the Canadian crowd with their big win over the Steelers. The exciting football they played is a good start to the five-year series for Buffalo.
Trent Edwards looks sharp: Edwards got the start for the Bills, and looked the part. He went 9-for-11 for 104 yards with 2 touchdown passes to tight end Robert Royal, one of which was thrown between defenders in the back of the end zone. Edwards also had a great 22-yard scramble from Buffalo's end zone to give the Bills a new set of downs and avoid a safety.
Leodis McKelvin is special: The rookie defensive back returned a kickoff 95-yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, following up a solid special teams performance last week. McKelvin averaged 37.3 yards on four returns.
The Steelers' offensive line needs work: With All-Pro guard Alan Faneca now with the Jets, Pittsburgh's starting offensive line struggled early, as evidenced by pressure on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and running back Willie Parker's inability to find many holes to run through. Roethlisberger managed to escape the Bills' rush for the most part, but was pressured enough to throw a first-quarter interception to safety Donte Whitner.
Roethlisberger stays hot: Despite his early interception, Ben Roethlisberger built on his Week 1 success, going 9-for-11 for 142 yards including a 40-yard touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes. He also looked very mobile avoiding the Bills pass rush.
